Our love of all things Spiral continues with an Earthworks piece by Robert Smithson from 1970. Spiral Jetty is set on the north-eastern shore of the Great Salt Lake near Rozel Point in Utah, forming a coil 1,500 feet long and 15 feet wide.
The jetty is only visible when the water in the Great Salt Lake falls below a certain level. Initially created during a drought, the jetty disappeared for three decades when the lake water levels returned to normal. The jetty finally made a reappearance in 2004.
